How do My Patients Use CF(Rehydrate)® For Colonoscopy Prep?

There is nothing worse than canceled procedures or patients not following proper prep instructions before a colonoscopy.  And sometimes, just the word “colonoscopy” is enough to make most people cringe. While colonoscopy prep is essential, your patient feeling miserable for days after their procedure isn’t. Today we break down everything to know about recommending CF(Rehydrate)® to your patients before a colonoscopy.

Why is CF(Rehydrate)® Useful For Colonoscopy Prep?

Prescribing CF(Rehydrate)® to your patient for colonoscopy prep can help minimize discomfort and ease the overall prep process. CF(Rehydrate)® is a medical-grade hydration drink that allows patients to stay hydrated with a concentrated dose of key electrolytes, including sodium and potassium.

Traditional colonoscopy prep leaves your patient with dehydration complications, high risk for nutrient loss, added stress and discomfort, and longer, sluggish recovery. Without proper nourishment of the body, colonoscopy prep can be accompanied by severe abdominal cramps, bloating, nutrient depletion, extreme dehydration, and other uncomfortable symptoms.

When patients prep with CF(Rehydrate)® they have:

  • Enhanced hydration
  • Fresh supply of electrolytes
  • Reduced stress and discomfort
  • Quicker, healthier recovery

Additionally, there are less canceled procedures! Which saves the medical professional’s time and money!

How is CF(Rehydrate)® Used During Colonoscopy Prep?

For colonoscopy preparation, we recommend your patient purchase two bottles of CF(Rehydrate)® to accompany their prescribed oral laxative solution. CF(Rehydrate)® is safe for consumption up to two hours prior to your patient’s colonoscopy procedure start time. It is not an oral laxative and therefore should not be taken in place of the prescribed laxative solution. It may improve the preparation experience by being used as a “chaser” to their laxative solution. It is also a great product to consume after their procedure for replenishing nutrients lost during their colonoscopy preparation.

Drinking Instructions for Powder Laxative:

In a large pitcher, add 238g (1 container) of laxative powder to 64 oz (2 bottles) of CF(Rehydrate)®. Mix thoroughly until the powder is completely dissolved. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour. At 8 p.m. the evening before your colonoscopy, start drinking the CF(Rehydrate)® /laxative solution. Drink one 8 oz glass every 15 minutes over a 2 hour period until completed

Drinking Instructions for Liquid Laxative:

If your prep is in liquid form (or if your doctor has instructed you to dissolve your colonoscopy prep powder in water), try adding natural CF(Rehydrate)® as a “chaser” during your prep for a more comfortable colonoscopy prep experience.

Can My Patient Use CF(Preop)® For Colonoscopy Prep?

CF(Preop)® and CF(Rehydrate)® are both clear and colorless beverages and do not contain any protein or other solids. They are safe for consumption up to two hours prior to your patient’s colonoscopy procedure start time. We recommend using CF(Rehydrate)® as a “chaser” during your patient’s colonoscopy preparation and following your patient’s procedure in order to rehydrate and replenish lost fluids and nutrients.
