We are rethinking NPO

According to the 2017 report by the American Society of Anesthesiologists, forgoing a traditional NPO fast in favor of clear liquids up to 2 hours before surgery reduces the risk of aspiration. It is safe for patients to consume clear liquids up to 2 hours before surgery requiring general anesthesia, regional anesthesia, or procedural sedation and analgesia. Source: ASA
